Demo Action for Photoshop Elements

Instruction on this page has been composed for Photoshop Elements. The Photoshop instruction is available here.

1. Save the upper image (Figure 1; file "sample.jpg") to your computer (right-click on it and select "Save Image As..." from the context menu).

In Photoshop Elements, there is no Actions palette. However you can load the action into the Effects palette.

2. Download either ActionLoader.exe (recommended for Windows users; file size 410 Kb) or ActionLoader.zip (400 Kb).

3. Unpack the "ActionsLoader" to your Photoshop Elements program folder (for example: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\ ).

The Figure 2 shows usage of executable file; the Figure 3 shows unpacking the "ActionLoader.zip" file.

4. Run Photoshop Elements. If you have done it correctly, the demo action appears in your Effects palette (Figure 4 »)

NB The same way you can unlock in your Elements some undocumented adjustment and masking functions. Details here.

5. Open the "sample.jpg" file.

6. Double-click the ".DemoAction" thumbnail in the Effects palette to play the action (Figure 4 »)

Loaded actions will appear in the Actions palette; hit "playback"

7. In a few seconds you will see edited image
(Figure 5
»)

In this example following changes were made:
- chin retouched
- skin whitened
- background changed
- overall color and tonal corrections made

8. Now you have got multi-layer document; so if you don't like some of these changes you always can discard / fine-tune them to your taste either using layer opacity slider (Figure 6 ») or correcting content of adjustment layers (Layer > Layer Content Options...).

9. To remove the demo action from your Effects palette, use either ActionUnloader.exe (file size 410 Kb) or ActionUnloader.zip (400 Kb)

NB For visual instructions on layers and adjustments, see video-tutorials As Simple As Photoshop.
